The Temperature-mass Relation in Magnetized Galaxy Clusters

چکیده

We use cosmological, magneto-hydrodynamic simulations of galaxy clusters to quantify the dynamical importance of magnetic fields in these clusters. The set-up of initial magnetic field strengths at high redshifts is chosen such that observed Faraday-rotation measurements in low-redshift clusters are well reproduced in the simulations. We compute the radial profiles of the intracluster gas temperature and of the thermal and magnetic pressure in a set of clusters simulated in the framework of an Einstein-de Sitter and a low-density, spatially-flat CDM cosmological model. We find that, for a realistic range of initial magnetic field strengths, the temperature of the intracluster gas changes by less than ≈ 5%.

Scaling relations in dynamical evolution of star clusters

We have carried out a series of small scale collisional N-body calculations of single-mass star clusters to investigate the dependence of the lifetime of star clusters on their initial parameters. Our models move through an external galaxy potential with a logarithmic density profile and they are limited by a cut-off radius. In order to find scaling relations between the lifetime of star cluste...

Mass-Temperature Relation of Galaxy Clusters: A Theoretical Study

Combining conservation of energy throughout nearly-spherical collapse of galaxy clusters with the virial theorem, we derive the mass-temperature relation for X-ray clusters of galaxies T = CM. The normalization factor C and the scatter of the relation are determined from first principles with the additional assumption of initial Gaussian random field. We are also able to reproduce the recently ...

Mass-temperature relation of galaxy clusters: implications from the observed luminosity-temperature relation and X-ray temperature function

We derive constraints on the mass-temperature relation of galaxy clusters from their observed luminosity-temperature relation and X-ray temperature function. Adopting the isothermal gas in hydrostatic equilibrium embedded in the universal density profile of dark matter halos, we compute the X-ray luminosity for clusters as a function of their hosting halo mass. We find that in order to reproduc...

An X–ray Size–temperature Relation for Galaxy Clusters: Observation and Simulation

We show that galaxy clusters conform to a tight relation between X–ray isophotal size RI and emission weighted intracluster medium (ICM) temperature 〈TX〉 . The best fit relation for 41 members of an X– ray flux limited cluster sample is: logRI = (0.93 ± 0.11) log (〈TX〉 /6 keV) − (0.08 ± 0.01); intrinsic scatter in size about the relation is 15%, and for 30 clusters with 〈TX〉 > 4 keV the scatter...

baryonic matter distribution in the large-scale structures is one of the main questions in cosmology. This distribution can provide valuable information regarding  the processes of galaxy formation and evolution. On the other hand, the missing baryon problem is still under debate. One of the most important cosmological structures for studying the rate and  the distribution of the baryons is gal...
